Glenn Black, Advisory Committee Member of United Christian Giving; FGCU President William C. Merwin; Pastor Glover, Mount Hermon Christian School; Dr. Marci Greene, FGCU Division Head for Teacher Education, and Dr. Mike Tyler, FGCU Division Head for Educational Studies The United Christian Giving organization signed an agreement establishing an endowed scholarship fund at Florida Gulf Coast University for the benefit of students from Mount Hermon Christian School. The agreement, signed by FGCU President William C. Merwin, FGCU Foundation Executive Director John M. Crowley and United Christian Giving President Frank Helmerich, was witnessed by Pastor Glover of Mount Hermon Christian School; Glenn Black, United Christian Giving Advisory Board Member; Dr. Marci Greene, FGCU Division Head for Teacher Education; and Dr. Mike Tyler, FGCU Division Head for Educational Studies. Mount Hermon Christian School teaches K4 through 12th grade in the Dunbar area. According to the agreement scholarship recipients will be graduates of Mount Hermon Christian School who take an ethics course at FGCU and demonstrate service to the community. The endowed scholarship fund for undergraduates was established with a $5,000 contribution. Matching funds from the State of Florida Ethics in Business Scholarship Program brings the endowment to $10,000. The initial annual scholarship award will be approximately $500. This is the second FGCU scholarship made possible from United Christian Giving. The first one benefits students from McGregor Baptist Church. "UCG strives to make an positive impact upon the planned giving strategies of local Christian organizations so that they can better serve our community," stated Helmerich.
